Our History

Sage & Sunday was born from a vision that the quality of clothing could reflect the care and intention behind its creation. Founded by Jakob Slabbert, a designer rooted in Cape Town, Sage & Sunday emerged as a brand committed to sustainable, luxurious apparel for those who believe in a deeper connection with their wardrobe. This commitment to thoughtful fashion goes beyond aesthetics—it’s about respecting materials, fostering a slower production cycle, and creating pieces designed to last.

Founder

Jakob’s path to Sage & Sunday began in his early days, surrounded by Cape Town’s rich blend of nature and design. His inspiration grew from the dynamic landscapes and vibrant cultures of South Africa, where he found a deep appreciation for sustainable practices and responsible design. Jakob’s mother, Maria, his role model and mentor, instilled in him the values of patience, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for nature’s resources, shaping his vision of creating clothing that honors both the wearer and the environment.

Vision

But Sage & Sunday is more than just its products. Jakob implemented an “Ultra Transparency Model,” inviting customers into the heart of the brand’s production process. Our atelier in Cape Town serves as a canvas for this transparency, where visitors can witness firsthand the care that goes into each piece. For Jakob, this model was essential in reshaping the fashion narrative: it allows customers to see exactly how their clothing is made, from the sourcing of raw materials to the finishing touches.

Closure

With a profound respect for craftsmanship and the planet, Jakob Slabbert continues to guide Sage & Sunday on a journey that celebrates mindful fashion. Our story is woven with intention, from our studio in Cape Town to the homes of our customers, each piece a testament to the values of authenticity, elegance, and longevity.
